BENEFITS OF CHIROPRACTIC DURING PREGNANCY
Improve the Birthing Process
Preconception
In preconception, the nerves and blood vessels in the lower back region regulate reproductive organs and supply nutrients to the fetus. If you feel as though you have exhausted all of your fertility options, prenatal chiropractic care may be an affordable and natural solution. When your spine is in alignment, your body will be free of nerve interference and this allows optimal function pre-conception. Prenatal chiropractic also promotes regular menstrual cycles, may help optimize uterine function, prepares the body for healthy implantation, and ensures proper nerve supply to reproductive organs.
Chiropractic During Pregnancy
Principled chiropractic during pregnancy not only relieves common complaints such as lower back pain but also structurally aligns the pelvis for both mom and baby to be in a perfect position for optimal birth. It also:
- Reduces interference to the mother’s nervous system
- Helps create a state of balance in the pelvic muscles, ligaments, and bony structures
- Reduces torsion to the woman’s uterus
- Allows for a safer and easier birth for the mother
- Helps detect and prevent fetal malposition
After Pregnancy
Continuing chiropractic care after birth provides numerous benefits to the mother, and subsequently, to the baby. These benefits include:
- More comfort while breastfeeding
- Greater production of breast milk
- Less incidence of postpartum depression
- Providing optimal environment and nerve supply to mother’s body as she adapts from pregnancy and delivery

Chiropractic care during pregnancy can offer several potential benefits for expectant mothers. It’s important to note that each person’s experience may vary, and consulting with a healthcare provider before starting any new treatments is recommended. Some potential benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy include:
1. Pain Relief: Many pregnant women experience discomfort and pain in the lower back, hips, and pelvis due to the changes in their body’s alignment and weight distribution. Chiropractic adjustments can help alleviate these pains and promote better spinal alignment.
2. Improved Pelvic Alignment: Chiropractic adjustments can help maintain proper pelvic alignment, which may contribute to reducing the likelihood of breech presentations or other malpositions of the baby.
3. Reduced Nausea: Some women experience relief from pregnancy-related nausea after chiropractic adjustments. This is thought to be due to the adjustments’ impact on the nervous system, which can influence various bodily functions.
4. Easier Labor and Delivery: Chiropractic care may help create a more balanced and aligned pelvis, potentially making it easier for the baby to move into an optimal position for birth. Some studies suggest that chiropractic adjustments can lead to shorter labor times and reduced need for interventions.
5. Preparation for Labor: Chiropractic care can help relax and balance the muscles and ligaments around the pelvis, aiding in the body’s natural preparation for childbirth.
6. Pregnancy-Related Sciatica Relief: Sciatica, a condition characterized by pain radiating from the lower back down the leg, is common during pregnancy. Chiropractic adjustments can help alleviate this discomfort.
7. Overall Well-Being: Pregnancy can lead to hormonal and physical changes that affect a woman’s well-being. Chiropractic care can promote a sense of relaxation, reduce stress, and improve overall quality of life during pregnancy.
8. Nervous System Support: Chiropractic adjustments are aimed at improving the function of the nervous system. This can have a positive impact on various bodily functions, including those that support pregnancy and fetal development.
9. Postpartum Recovery: Chiropractic care may continue to provide benefits after childbirth, helping the body recover and adjust to its pre-pregnancy state.
